This was an interesting and exciting evening. We experimented with “ice chalk pastel” ! Contrary to its name, there is no chalk in the medium. It is actually just a very simple mixture of; water, cornstarch, I think maybe baking soda or powder, watercolour and then the mix is frozen. The possibilities here are amazing, but ultimately in the end you have a watercolour painting. There is a very unique texture in the paintings I imagine from the mixture of cornstarch and other powdered ingredients. I’m sure many people have played with cornstarch and water as children or in my case a full grown adult lol. Its behaviour is very unique. I mos def recommend this medium to anyone who likes to get messy and enjoys the hidden treasures of watercolour.
